Serving Hanford and Surrounding Areas

Chase Family Law is a full-service law firm dedicated to serving you with the professionalism and courtesy you deserve and expect. Brian N. Chase has been certified by the State Bar of California as an expert in family law. Why is this rare certification important to you? Due to his expertise, Brian N. Chase was previously appointed and served as the Family Law Commissioner for the Kings County Superior Court.

After serving more than five years in that capacity, he decided it was time to return to private practice to advocate for individuals and families, ensuring that their voices can be heard, and their needs can be met with the expertise to which they are entitled.

We take an aggressive approach to preventative law. However, when prevention fails, we develop an appropriate and balanced strategy to problem solving and crisis management that is efficient and cost-effective.

What is the process for filing for divorce?

To file for divorce in California, one spouse must file a Petition for Dissolution of Marriage with the court and serve it on the other spouse. The responding spouse then has 30 days to file a Response. Both parties exchange financial disclosures and attempt to reach an agreement on issues like property division, support, and child custody. If an agreement is reached, it can be submitted for court approval. If not, the case may proceed to mediation or trial.
