With over 30 years of legal experience, Brian N. Chase is a dedicated family law attorney committed to guiding clients through some of life’s most challenging transitions. He graduated with honors in Political Science from Washington University in St. Louis in 1988 and earned his law degree from George Washington University Law School in 1991. After beginning his career in insurance company regulation, he quickly realized his passion was in litigation — advocating for people rather than corporations. In 1994, he opened his own law firm in the San Francisco Bay Area, gaining experience in multiple practice areas before focusing exclusively on family law.
In 2010, Brian was certified as a Family Law Specialist by the State Bar of California – Board of Specialization, a distinction that reflects his deep expertise in the field. Of the more than 100 lawyers in Kings County, only 2 others have earned this distinction. Recognized for his knowledge and fairness, he was appointed Family Law Commissioner for Kings County in 2019, selected from a pool of candidates across the state. In this role, he presided over countless family law matters, always striving to bring objectivity, compassion, and legal clarity to every case.
In 2024, Brian returned to private practice, founding Chase Family Law to better serve his community and address critical gaps in legal knowledge that he observed from the bench. His approach to family law balances compassion with tenacity — prioritizing amicable resolutions whenever possible but fully prepared to litigate aggressively when necessary. Lawyers who have opposed him in court never forget it. He understands that for most clients, the best day in their case is the day it’s finally over — even if difficult compromises were required. His mission is to help clients achieve a favorable resolution while fiercely protecting their rights and their families’ well-being.
Having spent 25 years practicing law in the San Francisco Bay Area before serving as a commissioner, Brian experienced a cultural shift when relocating to Kings County. Life in a Central Valley farming community is vastly different from the fast-paced legal world of Silicon Valley, but he has come to love it here. Opening Chase Family Law was part of his decision to remain in Kings County for the rest of his career, offering top-tier legal advocacy with a strong, community-focused approach.
Outside of the courtroom, Brian has a few unique accomplishments — he is a former professional baseball umpire and an accomplished bowler – his name can be found in the Bowling Hall of Fame in Arlington, Texas — after bowling a perfect 300 game. When he’s not advocating for his clients, he enjoys spending time with his son and two huskies.
